A Time for Choosing 2009

Choice is defined as the power, right or liberty to choose. The liberals in congress would have you believe that the choice they make, for you, is the right one, for you. They have effectively taken away your power to decide for yourself, the right to make the decision and the liberty to accept the consequences.

NJ and VA voters chose for themselves. They chose to reject the idea that a displaced, separated, uninvolved “ruling class” can better decide for them how their state should be run. Overwhelmingly, a message was sent to DC that true “change” is coming. “Yes we can” return to our foundations of capitalism and “Hope” is on the horizon for the 15 million of our fellow Americans who have lost jobs, homes and businesses because of the policies of the Obama administration.

The party of Jefferson, Jackson and Cleveland is taking this country “down the road under the banners of Marx, Lenin and Stalin.” Marx provided the foundation for communism, Lenin emboldened Marxist theory by placing politics over economics and Stalin took the reigns after Lenin’s death and murdered over 20 million of his countrymen & women in the name of communism.

Our founding fathers through divine wisdom and experience knew that the government could not control the economy without first controlling the people. They sought to minimize the “full power of centralized government.” The current administration seeks to do the opposite.

In less than one year in office, Obama and cohorts have apologized for our soldiers’ sacrifices for worldwide freedom, orchestrated the seizure of the auto industry, devalued our currency and increased the debt load of generations to come.

This is the issue of our time: “Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.”

The Declaration of Independence states that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these righs, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

I ask you, “Have you consented to have your representatives determine what is best for your healthcare?” Have you consented to the government owning GM, Chrysler, AIG, etc.?” Have you consented to taxation without representation?

The liberals of yesterday furthered by the failures of history have become the Democrats of today. Let’s not “trade freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state.” We have a choice between freedom and control, liberty & tyranny. Let us not be counted among those in history who “had the most to lose [yet] did the least to prevent it from happening…You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery.”

“We’ll preserve for our children, this last best hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.” Choose you this day which path you will take.
